CICLO DE VALORES

Our professional volunteers have begun a “Values Series” to share with our kids of our projects “ImpACTS” and “Hope for Kids” who come from “Aldeas Infantiles” and “Fé y Alegría” organizations. At the end of regular classes, the children are gathered together to share a meaningful time with our volunteers. Every week, a story which focuses on an important value we want our children put into practice in their daily life is told during this time.
Nuestros profesionales voluntarios han comenzado un “Ciclo de Valores” para compartirlo con nuestros niňos de nuestros proyectos “ImpACTS” and “Hope for Kids” quienes vienen de las organizaciones de “Aldeas Infantiles” y “Fé y Alegría”. Al final de las clases regulares, los niňos son reunidos para compartir un tiempo significativo con nuestros voluntarios. Cada semana, una historia que se enfoca en un valor importante que queremos que nuestros niňos pongan en práctica en su vida diaria es contada durante este tiempo.
Children also receive a card with questions they should answer with help from their parents or guardians. In this way, they not only reflect about how important values are in their daily relationships but also, an opportunity is created for them to build a close relationship with their parents or guardians. We begun with the value of “trustworthiness”. Romina was our kind storyteller in the last second week of July.
Los niňos tambien reciben una tarjeta con preguntas que ellos deberán responder con la ayuda de sus padres o tutores. De este modo, ellos no solamente reflexionan sobre cuan importante son los valores en sus relaciones diarias sino tambien, es una oportunidad creada para que ellos puedan construir una relación cercana con sus padres o tutores. Nosotros comenzamos con el valor de la “confiabilidad”. Romina fue nuestra agradable narradora en la penúltima semana de Julio.

TRAINING FOR PRONOEI "GOTITAS DEL SABER" TEACHERS

ENTRENAMIENTO A PROFESORES DEL PRONOEI "GOTITAS DEL SABER"

In July, teachers from the PRONOEI “Gotitas del Saber” in Huaycan came to our clubhouse in San Isidro, in order to be trained on how to apply our education methodology to run a “Hope for Kids” project in their school.
En Julio, profesores del PRONOEI “Gotitas del Saber” de Huaycan vinieron a nuestra casa club en San Isidro, para ser entrenados sobre como aplicar nuestra metodología educativa e iniciar un proyecto “Hope for Kids” en su escuela.
This methodology involves play and learn concepts, as well as brain gym exercises to stimulate and develop the learning skills and intelligences of our kids. They were also taught on how to apply our club’s code of conduct, in hope of inculcating good values in the children of Huaycan that are participating in the project.
Esta metodología involucra conceptos de juegos y aprendizaje, tambien como ejercicios de brain gym para estimular y desarrollar las habilidades de aprendizaje y las inteligencias de nuestros niňos. Los profesores tambien fueron capacitados sobre como aplicar el código de conducta de nuestro club, con la esperanza de inculcar buenos valores en los niňos de Huaycan que estan participando en nuestro proyecto.

Our club will be donating two sets of educational toys (one for each class) and providing continual training support for the PRONOEI teachers. To all of us in GenACTS, our godchildren deserve the best and we hope that by setting up Hope for Kids in the shanty town of Huaycan, we will be offering them the best education possible.
Nuestro club estará donando dos sets de juegos educativos (uno para cada clase) y permanecerá brindando contínuo soporte de entrenamiento para los profesores del PRONOEI. Para todos nosotros en GenACTS, nuestros apadrinados merecen lo mejor y esperamos que estableciendo nuestro proyecto “Hope for Kids” en el asentamiento humano de Huaycan, estaremos ofreciendoles la mejor educación posible.

TEACHER'S DAY & MATH CYCLE

DIA DEL MAESTRO Y CICLO DE MATEMATICA

We are continuing with our Math Cycle in English and using the Singapore Math Method. Now, our children are not only learning to identify big numbers but they can also identify and solve addition and subtraction graphically with models.
Continuamos con nuestro ciclo de Matemática en Inglés y usando el Método Matemático de Singapur. Ahora, nuestros niños no sólo estan aprendieron a identificar números grandes sino que además identifican y resuelven adiciones y sustracciones gráficamente con modelos.
Our students also surprised their volunteer teachers with amazing and wonderful greeting cards for “Teacher’s Day”.
Nuestros alumnos tambien sorprendieron a sus maestros voluntarios con increíbles y maravillosas tarjetas de saludo por el “Día del Maestro”.

"VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DAY"

Our “Volunteer Appreciation Day” took place last Saturday, June 28th. We had a good time together. There was a great conversation, a special lunch which was a fusion of Peruvian and Singaporean food, and of course, an opportunity to say “THANKS” to our wonderful volunteers who have joined us in support of our projects.
Nuestro “Día de Aprecio a nuestros Voluntarios” tuvo lugar el último sábado 28 de Junio. Pasamos un buen tiempo juntos. Hubo una gran conversación, un almuerzo especial que fue una fusión de comida peruano-singapurense, y claro esta, la oportunidad de decir “GRACIAS” a nuestro maravillosos voluntarios que se nos han unido para apoyar nuestros proyectos.

MATH CYCLE & PARENT'S WORKSHOPS

CICLO DE MATEMÁTICA Y TALLERES DE PADRES

We have begun our Math Cycle with the application of Singapore Math methodology. Our kids are being prepared for 3 weeks, after which they will compete in an internal Math competition. Our volunteer teachers are really excited with great visions of winning. They are placing lots of hope on our children's achievements.
Comenzamos nuestro ciclo de Matemática con la metodología de Singapur. Nuestros niňos estan siendo preparados por 3 semanas para luego competir en un concurso interno de Matemática en donde nuestros profesores voluntarios guardan muchas expectativas en los logros de nuestros niňos.

Volunteering mothers and fathers are also enjoying a good time with us during their workshops where they are learning to make special presents for their children for the upcoming Children's Day.
Las madres y padres voluntarios tambien disfrutaron de un buen tiempo con nosotros durante sus talleres en donde estan aprendiendo a elaborar presentes especiales para sus niňos.

REPORT CARD DAY

DIA DE REPORTE DE NOTAS

Last Saturday, June 14th and last Thursday, June 12th , the mothers of the children in our projects "ImpACTS" and "Hope for Kids" attended our "Report Card Day".
Our teachers reminded them that our club is not only important for academic growth but also for attitude and behavior so that the children are able to keep their scholarships.
El último sábado 14 de Junio y Jueves 12 de Junio, las madres de los niňos de nuestros proyectos “ImpACTS” y “Hope for Kids”asistieron al “dia de Reporte de Notas”.
Nuestros profesores les recordaron que en nuestro club no sólo es importante el rendimiento académico sino tambien la actitud y el buen comportamiento para que sus niňos puedan mantener su beca.

Also on those days, our volunteer teachers announced a new cycle of Mathematics taught in English using the Singaporean Methodology for children in both projects and they also invited the volunteering mothers to participate in a special workshop for them.
Tambien en esos días, nuestros profesores voluntarios anunciaron un nuevo ciclo de matemática en Inglés con la metodología de Singapur para los niňos de ambos proyectos e invitaron a las madres voluntarias a participar en un taller especial para ellas.

"STRENGHTENING YOUR HEALTH" PROJECT

Friday May 30th, 5:00 p.m. Our peruvian volunteers met with Dr. Joshua and Audrey from Singapore.
Viernes 30 de Mayo, 5:00 p.m. Nuestros voluntarios peruanos se reunieron con los doctores Joshua y Audrey de Singapur.

Dr. Audrey trained our volunteers on how to test the children on the development of their psycho-motor skills. Our volunteers role-played as children. They drew, jumped, built up the wooden building blocks and threw small plastic balls in order to be familiarize themselves with the test procedures.
La doctora Audrey entrenó a nuestros voluntarios en cómo evaluar el desarrollo de la capacidad psicomotriz de los niños. Nuestros voluntarios simularon ser niños. Ellos dibujaron, saltaron, armaron torres de bloques de madera y lanzaron pelotitas para familiarizarse con los procedimientos del test.
Saturday May 31th, 11:00 a.m. As soon as the two rooms were set up by our volunteers for the medical examination, one for boys and one for girls, the children lined up to enter according to their age ( 3, 4 and 5 years old ).
Sábado 31 de Mayo, 11:00 a.m. Tan pronto como dos aulas fueron arregladas por nuestros voluntarios para el examen médico, una para los niños y otra para las niñas, los pequeños formaron lineas para ingresar de acuerdo a sus edades ( 3, 4 y 5 años de edad ).

Our volunteers did a great job in cultivating the children’s trust to participate in the project.
Nuestros voluntarios hicieron un buen trabajo, cultivando la confianza de los niños para participar en el proyecto.

The final physical examination was done by Dr. Joshua and Dr. Audrey who were checking the children’s physical development. (sight, spine vertebra, breath, etc).
El examen físico final fue realizado por los doctores Joshua y Audrey quienes estuvieron chequeando el desarrollo físico de los niños ( vista, columna vertebral, respiración, etc ).

In the meantime, outside the rooms, their children, Zachary and Faith, were teaching origami to our adopted Huaycan children.
Al mismo tiempo, fuera de las aulas, sus hijos, Zachary y Faith estuvieron enseñando origami a nuestros niños adoptados de Huaycan.
At the end, all the children and mothers were very happy.
Al final todos los niños y las madres estuvieron muy felices.

Around 1:00 p.m. the project was over. Dr. Joshua and Dr. Audrey also supplied some medicines for the children. In the photo, our special family from Singapore appears with our children from PRONOEI “Gotitas del Saber” and our commited volunteers. Great Job!
